SCARPERIA (Propositura dei Santi Jacopo e Filippo<\/a>) – In the chapel on the left there is an impressive wooden crucifix, depicted with extraordinary and elegant lines and features: characterized by lively and molded plastic, it is generally attributed to Jacopo Sansovino’s youth activity. The sculptor and architect from Florence was a student of Andrea Contucci, known as Sansovino, from whom, moreover, he took the pseudonym. Being mainly active between Florence and Rome, Jacopo then moved definitively to Venice in 1527. The Crucifix of Scarperia is remarkable for its quality of execution and can be referred to the end of the fifteenth century, or to the early years of the sixteenth century.<\/p>
