BORGO SAN LORENZO (pieve di San Lorenzo) – At the side walls of the church there are eight carved stone altars, characterized by decorations of classic and Renaissance taste of remarkable quality and variety. Most likely these were made at the beginning of the sixteenth century by the wish of Pius Damiano Manti from Imola, a religious and humanist who directed the Pieve for almost forty years, from 1503 to 1543. He was the promotor of an impressive series of works to the church, which he found in precarious conditions.
