The medieval Vallombrosan abbey preserves an interesting baptismal font consisting of a decorated basin with motifs inspired by the Middle Ages, while on the wall there is a panel of tiles depicting the Baptism of Christ.
This scene, on which the mark of the San Lorenzo Furnaces is still visible, is treated like a maiolica painting and is probably the work of Tito Chini around 1940. The work, once again, demonstrates the author’s ability to harmonize elements drawn from artistic tradition, starting with iconography, with a more modern, stylized, and decorative taste.
